Minji
We arrive at the villa and calling it huge is an understatement. As soon as we arrive, we’re led to where our rooms will be. It appears everyone gets to have his or her room which is very exciting for most of the boys since they share rooms. I’m really happy that the boys are doing this for us, but my mind keeps thinking about what happened with Byung this morning.
I wish I didn’t let my anger take control of me like that. I said some things out of anger, things which probably hurt him as much as they hurt me to say them. I try to shake the thoughts away… I can always deal with it on Monday when my mind is clearer.
I finish having my shower and I change into a pair of sweatpants and a T-shirt. Although it’s November, the weather is still rather warm although it is bound to get cooler in the evening. We’re spending the evening outside, near the pool, much to my dismay as we’re doing a BBQ. Jin, Yun and Yoongi are actually the ones who are cooking even though they tried to convince Yun to just relax tonight.
‘Wah! Everything smells so good!’ I exclaim as I walk next to them. Yun is quick to show the end of the fork.
‘Away from the food for now miss piggy.’ She says.
‘Oink oink.’ I say as I pretend to snort while I wrinkle my nose up. I hear Jin laughing loudly at my antics while Yoongi looks at me as if to find out whether I am normal or not.
‘Just ignore her.’ I hear Yun whisper to him so I stick out my tongue at her. She rolls her eyes and goes back to cooking the meat. I look to the corner where I see Hoseok and Yoona next to each other and I smile. I walk towards Jungkook who is with Taehyung and Jimin.
‘Hey Kooks, want to do a challenge?’ I ask and he looks at me curiously. ‘We’ll see who can last doing a handstand the longest.’ I say.
‘Only if these two join.’ He says and I nod. Taehyung and Jimin look at each other and shrug.
‘I’ll be your judge.’ Namjoon says, coming from behind me, waving his phone, indicating that he’s going to record us. I nod as the four of us go into position and then we do the handstand. Taehyung barely lasts two seconds as he immediately falls down. I hear Namjoon laughing and before I know it, Jimin falls down too.
‘Just you and me sis.’ Kooks says, sounding confident. I just ignore him, trying to focus on the challenge. My hands and arms feel like they’re burning and my head feels like it’s swelling before I finally give in and fall.
‘And the winner – Jungkook.’ Namjoon declares. Jungkook laughs as he bows repeatedly while Jimin and Taehyung cheer for him.
‘Food is ready!!’ Jin yells from the BBQ. We hurry there as we grab our plates and que up like little kids. Yun helps with the serving and then we all go around the round table.
‘Thank you for the food.’ I say as I give a little bow and begin to eat.
We stay out talking and drinking beer for a good number of hours, until one in the morning when everyone started getting tired, well everyone except for me and Jimin it seems. We’re the only two who are still here as we sit next to each other. ‘You look cold.’ He says as he unzips his hoodie. He scoots closer and wraps it around me.
‘Thank you Chim.’ I say as I smile at him while I snuggle it closer to me. I can’t help but notice that it smells like him. Maybe it’s because he feels so comfortable, but I lean closer to him and rest my head on his shoulder. He doesn’t seem to mind as instead of pushing me away, he wraps his arm around me as if to secure me there. ‘You know, I always wished to meet you guys but I never imagined I would get all of this. I really feel luck.’ I say and he smiles.
‘We feel lucky too. In the beginning it was just about finding Jungkook's twin but we all really care about you and Yun. I’m really happy it turned out this way.’ He says. ‘You’re a very special person Minmin.’ He says and I smile.
‘So are you Chim.’ I say. ‘It’s such a beautiful night and the stars look even more beautiful out here. When Yun and I were kids, the two of us and Minho used to sneak out. We often would look at the stars and talk about our future.’ I say with a sigh.
‘Were you a troublemaker as a kid?’ He asks and I nod making him chuckle. ‘Somehow, that doesn’t surprise me.’ He adds.
‘One of the worst ones was when we went to the upper gardens. We didn’t realize it got late and we got locked inside. The gate was really high up but we tried to climb it anyways but my shirt got stuck.’ I say, laughing at the memory.
We continue to talk for a while before I start to yawn. I hear Jimin laughing at me. ‘You’re so adorable when you’re sleepy.’ He whispers between chuckles as I close my eyes for a moment. ‘Come on, let’s go sleep.’ He says and I nod. I sit up and Jimin stands up. I stand up as well but almost stumble if it wasn’t for Jimin who holds me. Somehow, we end up really close to each other, chest to chest and faces inches apart.
‘So-sorry.’ I stutter as I feel my cheeks flush red. He just smiles at me and then turns around.
‘Come on. Get on my back.’ He says and I giggle. I do as he tells me as he carries me on his back. I wrap my arms around his neck.
‘Thank you Chim.’ I say. We walk into the house and walk through the kitchen. I see Taehyung there with a glass of water. He stops drinking as he looks at us and begins to smile to himself. We go up the stairs while we giggle and laugh. We almost tip over but he manages to hold on. ‘Careful Oppa. I don’t want you to get hurt.’ I say.
‘I won’t princess.’ He says. As he says so, he shoots his head up as if he realizes what he just said. Even in the dim light, I can see him look timid and I giggle. We reach my room and he sets me down and then turns to look at me. ‘Good night Minmin.’ He says.
‘Thank you for the ride.’ I say with a smile. ‘Good night Oppa.’ I say as I give him a quick kiss on the cheek. As soon as I do, I run into my room and close the door quickly. I jump on the bed and bury my head in the pillow as I scream happily into it. ‘Aish why is he so cute!!’ I say rather loudly.
Jimin
I stand in front of her door, unable to believe what just happened. Did she really just kiss my cheek? I begin to smile like an * when I suddenly hear her talk. ‘Aish why is he so cute!!’ She yells, probably thinking that I’m not still standing here and I can’t help but chuckle. She thinks I’m cute. My smile gets even bigger as I walk to my room where I find Taehyung waiting by the door.
‘Someone looks happy tonight.’ He comments with a knowing smile and I nod.
‘She thinks I’m cute.’ I say and he just starts to laugh and shake his head. ‘I’m going to sleep Tae.’ I say and he nods.
‘Night Jiminie.’ He says as he begins to walk away. I walk into my room and close the door. I rest my back against it and smile. I grab my phone and look at the photos we took tonight.
One of the photos is of the whole group, another one is of me with Tae and Kook. I have another photo of the girls together and then there’s one of me and Minji. I smile as I see it as I zoom in on our faces. I look at her beautiful smile which makes me smile even more. I lock off my phone and go to the bed and go to sleep.
I wake up the next morning, still feeling happy as ever. I take a quick shower and get dressed as I go downstairs where I see Jin and Yun doing breakfast. ‘Morning hyung, morning Yun.’ I say.
‘Morning Oppa.’ She replies with a smile just as Yoongi walks in, looking sleepy as ever. ‘Good morning Oppa.’ She says as she looks at him. I notice how both of them are quite shy around each other.
‘Morning.’ Yoongi replies. Within ten minutes everyone makes their way to the kitchen. I look at Minji who is trying to look everywhere but at me but I can see her smiling as she does so. For some reason, I feel my heart beating even faster. Everyone helps themselves to breakfast as we eat together.
‘Hey, I was thinking we could go for a walk this morning.’ Jungkook suggests. ‘We could show them around. There’s this amazing park like four miles away from here.’ He says.
‘Sounds like an amazing idea.’ Namjoon says as he nods in agreement. I look at Yoongi who would normally complain a bit but still do it. Today, he doesn’t even complain. Perhaps, it’s for the girls.
‘I’ll make sure to bring my camera.’ Taehyung says excitedly. We finish eating breakfast and clean up everything while Jin prepares some lunch for us to take there. Minji and I prepare two bags which we will carry as we put in a water bottle for everyone and a first aid kit just in case.
‘I don’t know why Jin-hyung insists on carrying one of these everywhere we go.’ I say as I stuff it in one of the bags.
‘You never know what might happen and accidents happen when you least expect them to, so, trust me, it’s better if it’s there.’ She says.
‘Fine.’ I say with a smile. She smiles too as she continues to put the stuff in the bag. Jin walks in with the lunch boxes for us to put in the bags. ‘Hyung, are you planning on feeding the whole Terracotta Army?’ I ask as I look at all the food he has prepared.
‘Yah – it’s not like it won’t be eaten. We’re a bunch of pigs you know.’ He says which makes Minji laugh.
‘I’ll admit and I definitely am one when it comes to good food like the food you and Yun prepare. You can taste the love.’ Minji says which makes Jin laugh.
We’ve been walking for a little over an hour now and Minji and I walk next too each other. ‘You doing okay?’ I ask her and she nods.
‘Yep, you?’ She asks and I give her a thumbs up. ‘It’s been a while since I went for a long walk like this. I really enjoy it but don’t have much time these days.’ She says.
‘I can imagine.’ I say. We reach the park entrance and I see the three girls stare. I don't blame them because it really is beautiful. The ground is covered in red and orange leaves which have fallen from the trees because of autumn. The sides of the pathway is covered in trees which have different colours to them - some are bright green, others darker, some are yellow and some are turning orange while some are red. There is a light breeze which causes the leaves to move and rustle quietly. The smell of wet grass and leaves fill the air, making it smell like paradise.
'Jungkook wasn't kidding when he called this park amazing. It's beautiful.' Minji says. Just like you - I want to say to her but I keep back. Now is not the time. I just look at her smiling and I realize Yoongi is looking in the same way at Yun. We start walking inside and I look in awe until we reach a spot where we decide to sit down.
Namjoon and Jin take the bags and start taking out the things we brought with us. They place the blanket on the ground while Taehyung goes to take a photo of them. 'How about you help us instead of taking photos?' Jin says as he laughs. Everyone goes to give a landing hand as we place everything there.
'Come on, now let me take some photos.' Taehyung comments as he points the camera at me. I do a peace sign when suddenly, I feel someone behind me. I turn to look just as I hear the camera shutter going. 'Ohh this came out nice.' He says and I look at Minji who giggles. The two of us peer over at Taehyung and look. The photo shows me sitting down and looking backwards but half my face was still caught and it shows me smiling as I look at Minji who is also smiling at me.
'You're right. Can you send that to me when you can?' Minji asks and Taehyung nods and gives her a thumbs up. He takes another couple of photos of everyone and then we all try to huddle in while he stretches his arm so we can take a group photo.
'Anyone up for Hide and Seek?' Yun asks.
'Yes!!' Jungkook exclaims as he jumps up all excited. 'Who's going to seek?' He asks.
'I'll seek. It's too tiring to find a hiding spot.' Yoongi says laughing.
'I'll seek with you.' Yun offers and he nods. Yoongi stands up and helps her stand up as well. 'Maybe we should do it in pairs since it's a pretty big place.' She suggests as everyone stands up and we look at each other.
'I'll pair with Namjoon.' Jin says quickly.
'I'll pair with Jungkook.' Taehyung says as he looks at me and gives me a wink. Jungkook looks at me and Minji, rolls his eyes and chuckles before he nods.
'Then I'll pair with Minji.' I offer and she smiles.
'I guess that leaves us.' Hoseok says with a bright happy smile as he looks at Yoona. 'Okay so we should time it. You have fifteen minutes to find us. If you don't, we come back and meet here.' Hoseok says.
'Sounds good. Count to thirty and no cheating.' Jungkook says to Yoongi and Yun who nod. They go to a tree and place their arm against it and their eyes on it. They begin to count loudly and all of us start running in different directions. Hoseok and Yoona go north, Namjoon and Jin go west while Jungkook and Taehyung go east, leaving only south for us. We begin to run together before we stop and look around. I spot a large oak tree and I grab her hand as we run hand in hand together towards it. We reach it and I point upwards and she nods excitedly like a little girl. She begins to climb and I follow right behind her.
She scurries up like some damned chipmunk and I remember how strong and sporty she actually is. She probably has climbed trees a hundred times. She stops climbing and I stop on the branch right beneath her but still very close to her. She looks at me and giggles and I can't help but chuckle. I look down and realize how high up we actually are. 'I feel like I'm reliving my teenage years.' She says, still laughing. Suddenly we hear running footsteps and I quickly reach for her and place my hand against her mouth to quieten her laughing. We look down and see Yoongi looking around but he doesn't even think to look up. He leaves and as he does, I let go of her mouth as the two of us laugh even more.
'Poor hyung didn't even see us.' I say as we climb down slowly. I reach the ground first as I jump the last bit. I look up and I hold my arms up as I grab her from the waist and bring her down slowly. Once again, we find ourselves really close to each other. I smile as I notice a leaf stuck in her hair. I reach for it slowly and take it out and hold it between us.
'Did you know that the Oak tree is known to live for more than three hundred years and is often associated with honour, nobility and wisdom?' She asks and I shake my head as I get even closer to her. She smiles mischievously as she suddenly kisses my cheek again. 'Catch me if you can.' She says as she takes off running.
'Oh you're on Minji!' I yell out as I chase after her. I'll admit, she's really fast and it's hard to keep up with her. She turns to look backwards and I see her laugh so I sprint even faster. I reach her and she screams as the two of us collide. We fall down to the ground and we roll on top of each other before we stop with me on top of her. I rest on my elbows and just stare at her.
'Oppa! What are you doing?' She asks laughing as she places her hand on my chest. I lick my lower lip, my eyes never leaving hers. I lean closer when suddenly, we hear footsteps approaching and I stand up quickly. I take her hand, help her stand up and we run and hide behind a tree. I see Yoongi looking around and muttering to himself. 'He must have heard us.' She whispers and I nod.
We eventually make our way to where the others are and Jungkook runs to us. 'Yah! It's been more than fifteen minutes. Where were you? I was getting worried that you might have gotten hurt or lost.' He whines.
'We're okay Kooks. We hid in the Oak tree and Yoongi-Oppa was just looking beneath us. He didn't see us.' She says triumphantly.
'Then we were running and laughing and he must have heard us and he came back but we hid again.' I say and I see Yoongi shaking his head while Minji and I fist pump.
'I knew I heard something.' Yoongi says.
After eating lunch, we decide to stay for another hour, soaking up the sun and exchanging stories before we finally decide to return home. We arrive at around two in the afternoon and since it’s such a sunny day, we decide to go by the pool. The boys and I all jump in but the girls decide to stay in their bathing suit and sunbathe.
‘Ohh come on. Swim with us.’ Hoseok whines. I see Taehyung pouting as well as we try to convince the girls to join us but they’re quite adamant about not coming in.
‘No way. Do you know how long I’ve waited to enjoy the sun on my face without getting burnt?’ Yoona says laughing. I see Jungkook going from behind Minji who has her eyes closed. Jungkook looks at me with that cheeky grin as he suddenly picks her up. She opens her eyes and I see a look of fear and suddenly I'm not so sure about it.
‘Jungkook no!!’ She screams just as he throws her into the pool. She makes a big splash as we all laugh but I see the look of horror on Yun’s face.
‘Minji!!’ She calls out as she rushes from her place to the edge of the pool. I realize Minji hasn’t come back up and I quickly dive in. I see her eyes closed and her body *ing. I rush to her, grab her by the arm as I quickly pull her up. She gasps loudly as the others approach as well as they help to pull her out of the water. Namjoon and Yoongi are the first two to pull her out and place her on the ground.
‘Minji??’ Jungkook whispers. Any traces of smiles of laughter have vanished as I watch her shake uncontrollably, possibly having the worst panic attack I've ever seen her have.
‘*.’ Yun mutters as she breaks into a run inside. I run to Minji who has her eyes closed shut, her hands covering her ears. She is breathing very rapidly as she begins to cry.
'No, no, no no.' She mutters as she rocks herself back and forth. I grab at her arms, trying to make her look at me.
‘Minji, I’m here. You’re okay.’ I say. ‘Please, listen to my voice.’ I say just as Yun comes back and slides down next to her.
‘I’ve got the medicine. Come on, Min, you need to take it.’ Yun says. Minji opens her eyes and looks at Yun who nods and places the pill in her mouth and gives her the glass of water. ‘Shh, you’re okay. You’re out of the water, you’re okay.’ She says as she wraps her arms around her but Minji is still shaking uncontrollably. I hear her whimpering in Yun’s arm, her hand clutching at her chest and neck. ‘Shh you’re okay, you’re out of the water now. It's okay. You don't have to be scared. You're safe. Everyone is safe.’ She tells her as she rubs her back. I see Minji clutching Yun’s arms tightly, her fingers digging into Yun’s skin. Yun rocks her and continues to soothe her and whisper to her.
I look over at Jungkook who looks paralyzed, his eyes fixed on her. I see tears rolling down his cheek and I sigh. I look back at Minji who has stopped shaking. She closes her eyes and her breathing seems to calm down, the medicine probably starting to take effect.
Yun looks at the rest of us who all look at Minji concerned. ‘Minji is terrified of the water – of pools and oceans. They trigger her worse panic attacks.’ She explains.
‘Is she going to be okay?’ Yoongi asks her.
‘Does she need a doctor?’ Taehyung asks at the same time.
‘She’ll be okay. She’ll just sleep for some time. Panic attacks like these leave her exhausted.’ Yun explains.
‘How about we take her to her room? You and Yoona can change her clothes.’ I ask and she nods. I pick her up in my arms and Yun stands up. She approaches Jungkook and places a hand on his shoulder.
‘It’s not your fault. You didn’t know.’ She tries to assure him.
‘I should have listened to her.’ He says, shaking his head before he turns away and leaves the room. I sigh as I look at Minji who has fallen asleep in my arms. I carry her to her room and wait outside as Yun and Yoona change her into dry clothes. As soon as they come out, we exchange a bow and I walk in. I grab the chair and drag it closer to the bed and sit down, wanting to be with her.
